The Dom Fernando restaurant has existed since 1984, by the hand of founder Fernando Dias de Almeida.
After an interregnum of more than 10 years, the founder's son, Fernando Nelson Vieira de Almeida, recently decided to resume the glory of the famous Dom Fernando.
Born in 1946, Fernando Almeida moved to Lisbon at the age of 13, where he learned the art of good service from the best.
When he was 18, he returned to Aveiro and began his career at the Marisqueira da Costa Nova restaurant, first as a waiter.
He quickly progressed to head waiter and finally to manager.
But it was in 1984 that he decided to start his own adventure and opened Restaurante Dom Fernando.
Even today, many of the stores on the Costa Nova have someone who was recruited and trained by our dearly missed Don Fernando.
