Dom Fernando

Why choose Dom Fernando

You’ll find Dom Fernando restaurant nestled among the characteristic, traditional haylofts of Costa Nova do Prado, with a terrace overlooking the Aveiro estuary where you can enjoy a wonderful, peaceful view.

While enjoying the scenic beauty of Costa Nova, you can savor some clams from the Aveiro estuary—the best in the world—or some fresh barnacles and shrimp from the coast.

Dom Fernando Restaurant has been in business since 1984 and, over the years, has grown in reputation while serving Aveiro’s most iconic traditional dishes, such as Aveiro-style eel stew and its famous turbot stew, created by the owner in the late 1980s. Today, it has become a signature dish in the Aveiro region, originating right here in our restaurant.

Dom Fernando is located in a space known for its warm, family-friendly atmosphere, steeped in history, in a house built around 1890.

It is primarily known for its dishes featuring fresh fish grilled over charcoal, including sea bass, sea bream, wreckfish, turbot, grouper, and the finest seafood straight from our tank to your table, whether in a seafood or lobster rice dish, or indulge in a stunning seafood platter.

No meal would be complete without a homemade dessert, such as our famous cookie cake—the signature dish of our dessert menu—soft-boiled egg cheesecake, tiramisu, Abade Priscos pudding with homemade Serra cheese ice cream, among other delights we’ll leave for you to discover.
